It might be, it could be … it is! The 12th annual Worldwide Toast to Harry Caray takes place this afternoon and evening, and the epicenter for the activities is at Harry Caray’s Tavern, Navy Pier, which not-so-coincidentally opened to the public this morning. Also not so coincidentally, today would have been the broadcasting legend’s 96th birthday. WGN-AM 720 is broadcasting live from the Navy Pier restaurant from 4 to 9 p.m., and in addition to Harry’s wife, Dutchie, on-stage well-wishers will include Ernie Banks, Richard Dent, Bobby Hull, Len Kasper, Bill Kurtis, Harold Ramis and Otis Wilson, along with Rick Nielson and Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick. At 7:40 p.m., well-wishers will raise a glass (and perhaps more) in tribute. If you want to be part of it, head out to Navy Pier, or to the Harry Caray’s locations in River North, Wrigleyville, Rosemont or Lombard.
